Vientiane: Having let slip a 3-1 lead at home in the first leg, Cambodia's Boeung Ket FC made it count the second time around as they defeated Lao Toyota FC 1-0 to advance to the AFC Cup group stage on Friday.
Boeung Ket had allowed Lao Toyota to force their way back into the play-off, with the first leg finishing 3-3.
With the return leg at the National Stadium in Vientiane, the odds were against Boeung Ket but they fought gamely and were rewarded for their determination with skipper Khuon Laboravy the hero, finding the back of the net in the 61st minute.
Boeung Ket advance to Group F of the AFC Cup alongside Ceres Negros of the Philipppines, Home United of Singapore and Shan United of Myanmar.
They open their campaign against Ceres Negros away on February 13.
